I think I can say without reservation that we are definitely starting to feel unwound. The sun came out on our way to the coast and we have spent the last few days relaxing and taking in the gorgeous weather.

Our first stop was the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and we couldn’t have been more impressed. The stark massive dunes felt like something from another world and the landscape just seemed to stretch on and on (for any other sci-fi geeks out there, this is the area that was rumored to inspire Frank Herbert’s “Dune” series).

This also marked the first opportunity since BC that we were able to let Chester off leash and just run! He had energy to burn and we had a blast darting around with him, climbing up and down the dunes and just exploring. We capped the day off with one of Dave’s gourmet creations: Chicken on the Cobb. 🙂

We stayed there a couple days before moving south to Cape Blanco State Park. This pristine campground near the beach has a developed trail to the local lighthouse and comes complete with free showers for only $16/night. It’s official. We are in love with Oregon State Parks.

We couldn’t resist hanging around here for a couple days; I can’t recall the last time we both felt so relaxed. Our time was filled with leisurely morning coffees, long walks on miles of unspoiled beach, sunsets and more off leash play with Chester.

My only moment of anxiety was discovering an unfortunate error in my latest knitting project…my attempts to repair have not been fruitful so it looks like I will need to go back and do some major rework. Ah well, a job for a rainy day perhaps. 🙂

We will continue to south at a snail’s pace as long as this weather holds.
