And They’re Off!

On Wednesday morning we finally hit the road! There were many strange feelings as we were starting. Longing for the friends and family we will be missing (Diane and Kristel did attempt to keep the tears to minimum, but lost it a bit at the last moment); excitement about the adventures ahead; trepidation about the misadventures ahead; and a weirdness about the idea of leaving our jobs and home behind for a year.

Feelin Weird

The -2 C temperature and blowing snow certainly helped convince me that we were on the right track.

We put in what we hope will be one of our longer days on the road (775 km). We crossed the Rocky Mountains through the Yellowhead Pass and finally turned south at Valemont, B.C. and continued until we got out of the snow (Yippee!!) north of Kamloops. We found a lovely little campground beside the highway and enjoyed a nice evening with a bottle of wine (Thanks Nicole!) sitting around a campfire.

Dinner

We are not quite sure which way to head next. We had planned to head to the coast and perhaps spend a couple of days on Vancouver Island but the weather is not looking promising. We may just seek the sun!
